National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has commended Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje over his quick response on the gruesome murder of Hanifa Abubakar Abba, a 5 year pupil, who was kidnapped and killed by her teacher.

The Federal Commissioner of the Commission, Abubakar Muhammad (General) gave the commendation on Wednesday during a condolence visit to the governor in Kano.

In his message he said, “National Human Rights Commission under the chairperson of GCM Hajiya Salamatu and the Executive Secretary Mr Tony Ojukwu deemed it expedient to send this powerful delegation to you (governor Ganduje) and the good people of Kano state over the unfortunate incident of Hanifa’s killing.

“Who was allegedly murdered by her handlers in cold blood. We condemned such barbaric act and we set all the process towards ensuring that justice is prevailed.”

Represented by the Executive Secretary of the Commission,he commended Kano state government for being proactive and committed towards ensuring justice on the matter.

Recounting Hanifa’s ordeal and other incidents, the Commission assured that, “There is no reason for this form of human rights violations by anyone, big or small.”

In his remarks the governor applauded the concern of the Commission, “We are glad for your special concern over the sad incident. As we remain in synergy with you over this tragedy and we shall follow it up to its logical conclusion.”

“There is another case of one Zuwaira Gambo, 12 years old, who was also murdered. We got the culprit, as security agents trailed him and got him.

This case is also going hand in hand with that of Hanifa. And we are committed to seeing that justice is done,” disclosed the governor.
