Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has flagged off training of about 105 physically challenged persons in various skills across the 21 local government areas in the state.
The training programme organized by Adamawa State poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency (PAWECA) and Ministry of Entrepreneurship Development was declared open by the Governor at Women Development Center, Yola.
Represented by the deputy speaker in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Mr Pwamakaino Makondo who doubles as chairman committee on (PAWECA), Governor Fintiri who reiterates his commitment in changing the narrative in Adamawa said one of the eleven point agenda of his administration is to institute equitable welfare skills for all.
The Governor called on the 105 beneficiaries of the training to make use of the opportunity given to them for the betterment of their lives and that of the state.
In her welcome Address, the head of PAWECA, Hajiya Aisha Bawa Bello explained that the 105 phisically challenged persons will be trained in viable skills in the 21 local government areas for the period of two months.
Hajiya Bello further said they will be trained in their respective various local Government areas pointing out that a monitoring evaluation system will be out in place to be tracking the training during the two months training.
The head of PAWECA urged the beneficiaries to be committed throughout the training programme in order to compliment Government effort to making them self-reliant.
She commended Governor Fintiri for giving the agency the approval to train the physically challenge persons in the state and urged him to maintain the tempo.
Speaking on behalf of the 105 beneficiaries, the state chairman of joint national association of persons living with disability in Adamawa, Alhaji Sani Sabo thanked Governor Ahmadu Fintiri for his laudable efforts to people living with disability and promised to be dedicated throughout the training.
