Bayelsa State Governor , Duoye Diri has granted nine inmates of the Nigerian Correctional Centre, Okaka pardon.
While speaking at the brief prog held in the premises of the centre in Okaka, the Governor said the pardon followed advice and recommendation of the State Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy headed by the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Biriyai Dambo (SAN).
He said, “In exercise of my constitutional powers and in line with Section 212 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (amended), today, Tuesday, 5th October, 2021, I have granted nine inmates of the Nigerian Correctional Centre, Bayelsa State pardon.”
The Governor charged those already pardoned to turn a new urging the people, particularly the youth to stay away from crimes and criminalities.
Those pardoned include seven males and two females, they are: Tombra Tiempo(m), Sunny Okpara(m), Timi Okpo(m), Ebikabowei Molina(m), Joy Nekekpeme(f), Joy Victor(f), Jacob Anthony Jacob(m), Power Ekparaolaokumo(m) and Mutecliff Tobi Okoro(m).
