Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has signed the N1.054 trillion 2025 State Appropriation Bill into law.
The signing ceremony, held at the Governor’s Office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, was attended by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, other principal officers of the House, the Deputy Governor, and members of the State Executive Council.
Following the reception of the clean copies of the Bill, Governor Abiodun expressed his excitement about the future, announcing that his administration would soon sign a partnership agreement with potential investors for the development of the Olokola Sea Port.
He also highlighted plans to enhance basic infrastructure, including more Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with corporate partners in key sectors such as renewable energy, agriculture, and more, aiming to boost the state’s economy.
“I am pleased to announce that next month, we will be signing a partnership agreement for the development of the Olokola Port, which is back on track,” said Governor Abiodun.
“We will also sign additional MoUs with private stakeholders in areas like renewable energy, energy transition, and agriculture, especially animal husbandry. Our goal is to become major producers of beef and pork, not just for local consumption but for export.”
The Governor stressed the importance of infrastructure, particularly roads, across Ogun State, and assured that his administration would continue to create conducive learning environments for students, enhance healthcare, and promote the ‘grow what you eat, eat what you grow’ policy.
He emphasized the significance of key arterial roads, such as the Ijebu-Ode-Epe, Sagamu-Abeokuta, Atan-Lusada-Agbara, Ota-Abeokuta, and Ilaro-Owode roads, noting that they have contributed greatly to the state’s Internally Generated Revenue through increased industrial activities and population influx.
While acknowledging the challenges faced by citizens due to the bold reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, Governor Abiodun reassured the people that his administration had been proactive in providing necessary palliatives to mitigate the impact.
“I assure you that the future holds brighter days. It has been a tough year for us all, not just in Ogun but across the country. President Tinubu’s bold reforms have created challenges, but we must endure them for the country to become solvent again,” he added.
Governor Abiodun extended his gratitude to the State House of Assembly for their swift approval of the Bill, commending their diligence and commitment to the people.
He acknowledged the vital collaboration between the executive and legislative arms of government in driving Ogun State’s growth.
In his address, Speaker Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide highlighted that the quick passage of the Bill fulfilled a promise made to the Governor during its presentation on December 4, 2024.
He also praised the facelift given to the Assembly Complex by the Governor, noting that the assembly worked tirelessly to ensure timely passage of the Bill to maintain the momentum of progress in the state.
The Speaker assured that the Assembly would continue its cooperation with other branches of government to ensure the people of Ogun State benefit fully from democratic governance.
