Elder Statesman and Former Senate President , Dr Joseph Wayas is dead.
Wayas who was Nigeria’s third senate president from 1979-1983 died in London this morning at age 80.
Born on May 21 1941 in basang obudu, in Cross Rivers state, Wayas was the deputy chairman of the 1994 national constitution conference that organised the national conference.
He was fluent in hausa, igbo and yoruba languages having married a yoruba woman as his first wife.
Recalled that Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade had paid a visit to the ElderStates man in a Hospital in UK in November, the Governor was represented by the State Commissioner for Health Dr Betta Edu.

He is survived by children and grandchildren.
