The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has successfully closed the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp at Arc. Muhammad Namadi Sambo Skill Acquisition Centre in Tudun Wada, Kaduna South Local Government Area.

The camp, which was activated on September 13, 2025, following intense rainfall and flooding in major parts of Kaduna, sheltered 239 individuals who have now returned back to their home.

The flooding affected several communities, including Bashama Road, Kaje Road, Katagun Road, Fulani Road, and Mashi Road among others in Tudun Wada, Kaduna South Local Government Area.

A team of NEMA, KADSEMA, Red Cross, and security personnel conducted an inspection to ascertain if the areas are habitable for residents to return home.

Hundreds of residents were displaced due to the destruction of properties caused by the devastating rainfall, which lasted for almost five consecutive days.

Recalled that the Director General of NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, immediately activated the Kaduna Operations Office to deploy a response team for rescue operations and rapid damage assessment.

The response team worked with stakeholders, including KADSEMA and the Red Cross, to rescue victims and assess the level of damage which prompted the activation of a temporary camp.

The team was supervised by NEMA North West Zonal Director, Mal. Sani Lokoja, and the Head of Kaduna Operations Office, Mal. Suleiman Muhammad and have successfully carried out emergency response to provide succour to the affected persons.
