The private residence of the Minister of State in the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, was on Sunday evening engulfed by fire.
The property, located on No. 9, Justice Roseline Ukeji Close, in the upscale Asokoro area of Abuja, was reportedly razed completely by the inferno.
Despite efforts to respond to the emergency, including the arrival of fire service personnel, nothing could be salvaged from the property.
Mr. Austin Elemue, the Special Adviser on Media to the Minister who confirmed the incident, said the cause of the fire has not been ascertained.
He stated that relevant authorities have launched an investigation into the matter to determine the cause of the fire.
