The Governor who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr. Chiedu Ebie noted that the essence of the emblem launch was to appreciate the sacrifices of the ex-servicemen and to honour them.

He stated that the gesture would go a long way to assure other living gallant officers that their efforts and sacrifices would not be in vain and they would always be remembered when they have gone.

The Governor commended the Armed Forces in the roles they played in the various operations to keep Nigeria as one, adding that the State Government would continue to give support to them in their operations in the State aimed at securing the peace and territorial integrity of the country.

Senator Okowa also stated that the State Government recently set up Operation Delta Hawk with personnel drawn from the various security agencies in the State in order to curb the security challenges in the State.

He charged the Local Government Chairmen in the State to ensure that they launch the emblem in their various Councils and appealed to the private sector and well meaning citizens of the State to also support the emblem launch.

Senator Okowa enjoined the State Chapter of the Nigerian Legion to ensure that the funds realized from the launch would be used judiciously to the interest of the veterans, widows and the children of the fallen heroes.

The Chairman of the State Chapter, Nigerian Legion, Retired Col. Boniface Ojei commended the State Government for its support to the Legion and pledged that the funds realized from the launch would be put to good use.
