Additional 1,964 new cases of Coronavirus have been confirmed Nigeria on Thursday according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control,NCDC.
The health Agency in it’s late night report said the new cases were confirmed in 23 states and the federal Capital Territory,FCT even as the total confirmed cases now stands at 116,655.
Lagos recorded the highest with 824 new cases followed by the FCT with 246 new cases.
Other States with new cases are ,Plateau-166
Kaduna-128, Ogun-76, Nasarawa-74, Anambra-69, Edo-50, Rivers-45, Ondo-44
Oyo-38, Adamawa-35, Kano-31, Akwa Ibom-27, Gombe-19, Kwara-13, Ekiti-12, Delta-6
Kebbi-6, Bauchi-5, Ebonyi-4,Osun- 3 and
Zamfara-1.
According to the health agency ,seven deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours moving the death toll to 1,485 while the discharges now stand at 93,646 with 1,310 newly discharged patients.
The NCDC said Thursday’s discharges include 798 community recoveries in Lagos State and 191 community recoveries in Ondo State managed in line with guidelines.
However, the Nigeria Governor’s Forum, which had expressed alarm over the spread of the virus, on Thursday said it was setting up a team to advise on procurement and administration of COVID-19 vaccines.
According to NGF Chairman and Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, Nigeria is expected to take delivery of a tranche of COVID-19 vaccines by the end of February.
