An Oyo State High court has ordered the Department of State Services (DSS) to pay Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, the sum of N20 billion.
Justice Ladiran Akintola awarded the sum on Friday while delivering judgement in a N500 billion suit, filed against the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami and the Department of State Services (DSS) for what was described as exemplary and aggravated damage done against the activist.
Igboho through his lawyer, Yomi Alliyu, had filed the suit challenging the invasion of his house in Ibadan on July 1, damage of his property as a violation of his fundamental right to peacefully own property and wealth by operatives of the DSS.
The court declared the raid illegal and criticized the DSS for “arbitrary aggression and prejudices”.
The judge also dismissed an application challenging its jurisdiction for hearing the suit.

Igboho was arrested in Benin Republic while trying to escape to Germany following the invasion of his residence by the DSS on July 1, 2021
