Federal High Court nullifies APC Cross River Central senatorial primary election held on 28th May 2022.
Justice Fadima Aminu, presiding over the pre-election special task force, nullified the suit filed by Mary Ekpere-Eta who had challenged the outcome of the primaries.
The court dismissed the 14 preliminary objections raised by the defendants and held that the primary election was not monitored by INEC.
No, proof from the result sheet submitted to INEC indicated that any INEC official monitored the election.
The Chairman of the election committee did not sign the result sheet.
The defendants had hurriedly produced another sheet which the chairman signed.
The defendant had initially already submitted the unsigned sheet to INEC.
They later exhibited another one signed by the chairman in Court, thereby contradicting the result.
In line with Electoral Act when a primary election is nullified the Party has 14 days to conduct a fresh election.
