Osemudiamen Idemudia, a Lagos banker, has been discovered dead at a morgue in Yaba days after he was declared missing.
According to reports, Idemudia worked in the Point-of-Sale (POS) department of a commercial bank in Ikota.
He was last seen on the evening of May 9 in the CMS area of Lagos Island, after a cancelled meeting with a senior official at the bank’s headquarters.
A relative identified as Segun told journalists that the family discovered Osemudiamen’s body on Sunday while searching hospitals and morgues.
“We have found Osemudiamen’s body. He was murdered. We found the body on Sunday in a morgue at Yaba with machete cuts on his head, face, and legs. I’m so sad,” Segun said.
He further noted that operatives of the police force were said to have brought the body to the morgue, but morgue attendants could not provide details about the officers or where the body was recovered.
“The staff members of the morgue claimed that the body was brought in by the police but when we asked where they brought the body from, they could not provide an answer.
“They said they did not have details of the policemen who brought the corpse to their facility. That made the discovery more complicated,” he said.
The family has since buried the remains.
The father of the deceased banker, Julius, narrated events leading to his disappearance, saying that his son left the Ikota office on May 9 for an appointment at the CMS head office with a colleague. But upon arrival, they were informed the meeting had been postponed.
“After they parted ways at CMS, Osemudiamen was supposed to board a bus to Iyana Ipaja and then another to Igando. But when it started getting late and we hadn’t heard from him, we became worried,” the father said.
“After 24 hours of no contact, we raised the alarm. Since then, we haven’t heard from him. Our hearts are heavy with worry. This is so unlike him, and we are deeply concerned for his safety and well-being.”
