A trending recorded telephone conversation between Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party and Bishop David Oyedepo, founder and senior pastor of Living faith Church aka winners chapel has leaked.
In the leaked audio published by Peoples Gazette, Peter Obi was heard begging Bishop David Oyedepo to help canvass Christian votes on the eve of Nigeria’s presidential election.
The former governor of Anambra state was also heard tagging the build up to the polls as a “religious war”.
Federation of Investigative Journalism, through its fact check desk has confirmed the authencity of the audio.
Kenneth Okonkwo, a spokesperson of the Labour party campaign organization, has confirmed the authenticity of the audio clip, adding that some individuals are only trying to spin the conversation for selfish political purposes and specifically accusing the ruling All Progressives Congress of religious intolerance.
