The Confederation of African Football has approved a request by Nigeria to allow spectators to fill the 60,000-capacity MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja for Tuesday’s must-win World Cup playoffs against Ghana, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The Special Assistant, Multimedia to the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Toyin Ibitoye, made this known in a tweet Sunday morning.
“A total of 60,000 fans will be allowed into the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja for Tuesday’s second leg of the 2022 FIFA World Cup playoff between the Super Eagles and Ghana’s Black Stars. Let us make it a sea of green and white on matchday #SoarSuperEagles.”
This also comes after CAF approved Ghana’s request to fill up the 40,000-capacity Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi for the first leg which ended goalless last Friday.
The clash will determine one of five teams that will represent Africa at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar later this year.
The World Cup in Qatar will take place from November 21 to December 18, with 32 teams taking part in the competition.
