Armed herdsmen attacked Yelewata community in Nyiev Council Ward, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, leaving one farmer dead.
The attack occurred on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, just two weeks after three residents were killed and three others injured in a similar attack on the community, and less than three months after over 200 people were massacred.
It was gathered that the victim, identified as Mr. Hemen Ayua Jonyi, was reportedly hacked to d3ath with a machete while attempting to access his yam farm located less than a mile from the village square
