The Kaduna Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 arraigned one Bashiru Usman before Justice A.A Bello of the Kaduna State High Court, Kaduna on one count charge of criminal misappropriation.
The charge reads: ” That you, Bashir Usman (M) sometime in April, 2022 in Kaduna, Kaduna State within the jurisdiction of the Honourable Court, dishonestly misappropriated certain property, the sum of N745, 443.99 (Seven Hundred and Forty-Five Thousand Four Hundred and Forty-Three Naira Ninety- Nine Kobo) belonging to Babajo Auwalu Ahmed, and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 293 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law, 2017 and punishable under section 24 of the same law”.
The suspect pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him.
Prosecution counsel, N.Salele, consequently asked for a date for the commencement of trial but the defence counsel, Y. Ajibola applied for the bail of his client.
Justice Bello, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N500, 000 (Five Hundred Thousand Naira) and one surety in like sum.
The case was adjourned till May 25, 2023 for trial.
