Armed bandits killed eight people and abducted several others in an attack on a trailer loaded with food items at Matashayi Zaki community, along Dansadau/Gusau road.
The bandits stormed the area at about 6:00 pm after military escorts had left the trailer behind.
It was gathered that no vehicle can move along Dansadau/Gusau axis without military escorts. However, it was learnt that the military escorts do no not wait for any vehicle that delays their movement.
It was also gathered that the military personnel are collecting huge amount of money from people to escort them to Gusau or from Dansadau, because of the dangerous nature of the road.
One Ishiaku Muhammad saod the villagers were losing a lot due to the money they pay to the military escorts for security.
“We have no option, because we are afraid of the bandits, and the army authorities claimed they have installed a military station at Dansadau but there has been no positive effect,” he lamented.
