Bandit leaders have reportedly met with top Government officials in Katsina State pledging lasting peace after meeting with Charanci and Batagarawa communities .
Security expert Zagazola Makama in a post on Twitter said the dialogue held Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025, in Wurma (Kurfi LGA) brought together the Batagarawa LG chairman Hon. Yahaya Lawal Kawo, Charanci LG reps, traditional rulers and delegates of the forest-based Fulani community. Delegates say the session ended positively with a pledge to coexist peacefully.”
We call on the Presidency and Nigeria’s security agencies to take careful, coordinated, and lawful action in the national interest.
The reported meeting between local government officials and armed groups raises serious questions, particularly regarding under whose authority such engagements were conducted and whether due approval was obtained from higher security or governmental bodies.
This development must be treated with the utmost seriousness, investigated thoroughly, monitored transparently, and addressed in strict accordance with national security protocols.
The Presidency, security agencies, and relevant oversight institutions must respond with professionalism, clarity, and urgency to ensure accountability, uphold the rule of law, and reassure affected communities of the government’s commitment to lasting peace and security.
