The National Secretary of the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator John James Akpanudoedehe has resigned.
The former lawmaker reportedly tendered his resignation letter to the acting chairman of the APC, Governor Abubakar Sani-Bello on Tuesday.
His resignation may be connected to the purported sack of Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State as CECPC chairman and subsequent takeover by Governor Sani-Bello of Niger State.
Recalled that Senator Akpanudoedehe had on Monday issued a statement that Buni was not sacked by President Muhammadu Buhari, insisting that the Yobe State Governor was absent from a meeting at the party’s national headquarters due to medical reasons.
Akpanudoedehe stated Yobe governor remains the CECPC chairman until otherwise announced by the President.
But sources and different news platform had reported that Buhari ordered the removal and replacement of Buni before he jetted out of the country on Sunday.
