The presidency has debunked news making the rounds that the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume has been replaced.
Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy debunked the information in a terse statement on Saturday night.
The statement reads in full, “There has been no change in the status of His Excellency, Senator George Akume, as Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, currently in Saint Lucia, has not made any new appointments.
“The information circulating about Akume’s replacement is untrue. Agents of mischief fabricated it.
“The Presidency advises Nigerians to disregard the fake news”.
The clarification puts to rest speculations that had gained traction on social media platforms on Saturday suggesting that Akume had been replaced.
Senator George Akume, a former Governor of Benue State and former Minister of Special Duties, was appointed SGF by President Tinubu in June 2023.
