The Ekiti State House of Assembly has declared a 7-day mourning in honour of the late Speaker, Funminiyi Afuye
The chairman House Committee on media, Mrs Yemisi Ayokunle in a statement in Ado Ekiti said the flag in the Assembly complex would be flown at half mast during the mourning period.
While noting that the late Afuye will be greatly missed Ayokunle described the late Speaker as an embodiment of courage, excellence and a highly committed man to public service.
According to the statement, the Speaker died on Wednesday evening during a brief illness at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti, at the age of 66.
