No fewer than 85 suspects have been arrested by police in the federal capital territory for various offences.
The offences range from manufacturing of counterfeit currencies, peddling of hard drugs, erecting illegal structures and shanties among others.
A statement issued on Sunday by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said the arrest was a sequel to a coordinated raid exercise in some identified black spots and criminal hideouts in Durumi and Dei-Dei axis of the FCT.
She said paper and coin counterfeit currencies both in local and foreign, light weapons, eight motorcycles, seven generators, gadgets, and several ATM cards suspected to have been stolen from their victims were all recovered.
The PPRO assured that all the suspects will be screened, stressing that those found culpable will be profiled and arraigned in court.
She said the illegal wooden structures erected by the hoodlums have been dismantled and set ablaze.
“While investigation is still ongoing, the Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, psc, mni, wishes to reassure residents of his commitment to flush out criminals from FCT and ensure the safety of all”, she added
