Over five thousand farmlands, two thousand houses and properties worth millions of Naira have been destroyed in a recent flood disaster in Kirfi Local Government area of Bauchi State.
The Chairman of the local government Alh. Garba Musa Bara revealed this while briefing the State Governor Bala Mohammed who paid a sympathy visit and inspected the level of damage caused by the flood.
Briefing the Governor, Bara called on the state Government and other relevant authorities to take proactive measures to prevent future occurence of the incident.
Also speaking the member representing Kirfi constituency in the state house of Assembly Umar Abdulkadir Dewo called on Government to provide immediate parliative for the victims to ease their suffering.
Responding, Governor Bala Mohammed expressed concern on how the incessant cases of flood disaster is ravaging communities across the state year in year out and promised to provide lasting solution.
While commiserating with the victims the Governor constituted a Committee that would take inventory of all the losses with a view to supporting the affected persons.
