The Borno State Police Command has arrested 23 suspects for possession of dangerous weapons, drugs and other illicit substances.

The spokesperson of the command, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, December 16, 2024.

“On 15th December 2024, at about 1800HRS The Command Rapid Response Squad (RRS) conducted a raid in a black spot at Texaco area along Baga Road, Maiduguri, and arrested 19 suspects,” the statement read. 

“The suspects were found in possession of 118 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, 196 pieces of Zola tablets, 1 bottle of suck and die substances, and a bunch of charms.

“In another development, on the same date the Command Anti-Vice Patrol team arrested 4 suspects in possession of two (2) knives and two (2) wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp during a raid operation in Gamboru, Old Maiduguri, and Lamisula areas

“The case is still under investigation, suspects would be charged to court after investigation. 

“The Command remains steadfast in ensuring public safety and security and warns all criminal elements to desist from their nefarious acts or face the wrath of the law.”
